The SIPR Evidence and Investigation Network is pleased to follow up on the very successful networking event held at online with Queen Margaret University in 2021. On Tuesday, May 16, 2023, Abertay University will host a networking event, organised by Dr Penny Woolnough,SIPR Associate Director, (Abertay University) and Dr Julie Gawrylowicz (Abertay University).

The event brings together researchers, students, and practitioners actively working on or interested in applying cognitive psychology to forensic settings. Presenters and attendees will discuss current interests and expertise across Scotland, (re)establish key connections, and identify potential new collaborations and avenues for funding.

The SIPR Evidence and Investigation Network is pleased to announce our next biennial networking event – Applied Cognitive Psychology in Forensic Settings.

We have two overarching themes – vulnerable groups and novel technologies. We are seeking presentations across a broad range of topics within these themes, such as:

  • Asylum seekers/ refugees;
  • Children/ young people;
  • Survivors of sexual assault;
  • Virtual training programmes;
  • Virtual line-ups;
  • CCTV;
  • Facial recognition; and
  • Surveillance.

If you would be interested in presenting/ participating in discussions, please contact Monica Craig, SIPR Knowledge Exchange and Business Manager (m.craig2@napier.ac.uk) and Dr Julie Gawrylowicz, Lecturer in Psychology Abertay University (j.gawrylowicz@abertay.ac.uk) by Monday 20th March and provide your:
Name;
email address; and
area of study/ research/ expertise.

For those interested in presenting your research, please additionally provide:
a title for your proposed presentation
a brief outline of what you would cover (2-3 sentences)
