Police-Community Relations Network, PhD Student, Academic
I am a 3rd-year PhD student at Edinburgh Law School, researching “Public Confidence in Policing in Monterrey Metropolitan Neighbourhoods: the paths of effectiveness, fairness and Legitimacy to gain Public Confidence and Support for the Police".
My academic background is in International Relations, Economics and Policy, and Criminology and Criminal Justice.
As a practitioner, I worked as specialist on regulatory affairs for a parliamentary group in Mexican Congress. I was also a regional coordinator in the Northeast of Mexico for a national NGO in a programme of social and political leaderships. As a consultant, I advised Municipal Governments on local social policy and programmes. I also worked as a consultant on citizen security governance for the International City Managers' Association (ICMA), in a crime prevention programme funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). On the academic side, I have worked as a university professor at Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education and Metropolitan University of Monterrey, teaching subjects on Economics and social research methods. More recently, I work as a tutor for quantitative analysis at the School of Social and Political Science (SSPS), in the University of Edinburgh. I also collaborate with 'Data Carpentry' and the Edinburgh Centre for Data, Culture and Society on data visualisation and statistical analysis workshops.
