Profile
Grampian Police has an established Research Unit staffed by qualified social scientists. Their remit is wide ranging covering many aspects of organisational and operational issues for Grampian Police and the wider Police Service / ACPOS.
Dr Woolnough's personal research interests lie within police / investigative psychology. She is Senior Research Officer for Grampian Police. She is also an Honorary Research Fellow in the School of Social Sciences at the University of Dundee and a Visiting Lecturer at Glasgow Caledonian University. She has over fifteen years of applied policing research, including work with Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary (England and Wales) and the Home Office Research Development & Statistics Directorate. She is a Chartered Psychologist and Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. In 2004 she was awarded a Fulbright Commission Police Studies Fellowship to study missing person behaviour in the US. She is an Expert Advisor to the National Policing Improvement Agency on matters relating to missing persons.
