ResearchPhD Study: Resilience and well-being in a Scottish Police force .  Started December 2008. An empirical study of police officers in a Scottish  police force to identify those factors which conduce to and compromise resilience.

ProfileAims - To develop organisational practices (e.g. selection, training, organisational change) to augment resilience and well being of officers in police forces. To reduce the levels of sickness absence and ill health retiral. Objectives - To identify resilience and vulnerability factors (at individual, environmental and organisational levels). To identify the mechanisms which promote positive and adaptive outcomes. To compare findings from the benchmark survey by Alexander et al (1993) with those of the proposed one.
