NetworkEvidence and investigation: Academic

Profile1) Exploration of the impact of interpreting on the effectiveness of investigative interviews within a Scottish context. Investigative interviewing practices are based on the assumption that police officers have direct access to the interviewee’s verbal and non-verbal expression. In the interpreted interview, this access becomes subject to mediation.  A present joint research project (with Professor I. Perez) explores the implications of this changed framework of participation. These implications will be assessed within the context of the most widely accepted codes of conduct which govern the training and practice of public service interpreters.
