Professor John McNeill has extensive experience of criminal justice across the United Kingdom (UK). His interests include human rights, governance, accountability and complaints handling. He is an Honorary Professor at Glasgow Caledonian University and Queen Margaretís University, Edinburgh, and a Visiting Professor at the University of Ulster and the University of Chester.  As Police Complaints Commissioner Scotland and the first Police Investigations and Review Commissioner he worked with all policing bodies operating in Scotland. His Ministerial and Parliamentary appointments across the UK included the Risk Management Authority, the Civil Nuclear Police Authority and the Scottish Human Rights Commission, bodies he helped establish. Currently an Independent Member of the Ministry of Defence Service Complaints Panel, he hears cases delegated by the Defence Council to the Admiralty, Air Force and Army Boards.
