Profile

I have over 20 years experience in public policy and performance management, and was policy lead for justice in Audit Scotland until December 2014. In that role, I had senior management responsibility for delivering national performance audits for the Auditor General, including influential reports on Scotlandís criminal justice system and police reform. I also provided policy advice to the Auditor General and gave evidence to the Scottish Parliament on Audit Scotland reports. I was seconded to HM Inspectorate of Constabulary in Scotland from October 2008 to November 2009. During that secondment, I was a member of the team conducting the Independent Review of Policing (which ultimately led to the creation of a single police force in Scotland) and was the lead for governance and use of resources in that review. I also oversaw a thematic inspection on how the then eight forces were managing the very high priority risks identified in the Scottish Strategic Assessment.

I also have extensive experience of partnership working in the public sector and have delivered audits and developed guidance on effective joint working, including community safety partnerships. Most recently, I have been working on EU Twinning Projects in the Ministry of Interior in Serbia (primarily police), providing consultancy and training on monitoring and evaluation.
