Police Scotland’s Academic Research team work on behalf of the Chief Constable and Executive to design, develop and deliver high quality research which supports the organisation in robust and evidence-led decision making.
The team provides a single point of contact for research support: reviewing external requests to collaborate with Police Scotland; providing police officers and staff with access to a portfolio of historic research; and ensuring that research partners are provided timely access to Police Scotland data and personnel as required.
Following engagement with our Executive and individual Business Areas we have identified a number of priority research themes which align with our goals to improve the public experience of engaging with police, enhancing public safety and wellbeing, and improving colleague experience working within the Service:
The team are currently supporting over fifty live collaborations between Police Scotland and external research practitioners, and work to ensure co-ordinated dissemination of research outputs so that they are integrated into policy and practice.
