SIPR Annual Report 2023/24 – Call for Submissions

We are in the process of pulling together the content for the 2023/24 SIPR Annual Report and, as always, are keen to continue to showcase some of the excellent work being undertaken in each of our member universities (and beyond) over the last year.

Do you have any SIPR related news or research to highlight?

This may include for example, publications, reports, funding news, information about research findings, or impact. Or please let us know if there is anyone you would recommend we get in touch with from your institution.

Our Aim – Showcasing Scottish Policing research.

The Annual Report is a great opportunity to showcase Scotland’s outstanding multi-disciplinary policing research (and researchers) and we are also keen to focus on examples of research which is making or has made an impact. This could be any research within policing which impacts policy, practice, or communities, or influences academic theory or practice. We would be keen to hear about any impacts policing related research is having in the widest sense.

We are also interested in hearing about examples of how SIPR may have helped support the development of research or careers over the years. For example, by helping make connections, supporting events, funding research projects, assisting with dissemination, developing networks, or providing any support that helped with accessing funding, led to publications, or facilitated impact.

Our Request

Your (or your team’s) contribution could involve either a short ‘news item’ snippet of approximately 50 words (e.g. funding received, publications, KE/dissemination) to be featured alongside other inputs OR a more substantive one-page feature or ‘research highlight’ (maximum of 500 words without images – 350 words if images included).

Please make your submission by MONDAY 6th May 2024 using this form: https://www.sipr.ac.uk/sipr-annual-report-content-submission-form/

For examples of previous submissions, please see last year’s annual report https://www.sipr.ac.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/SIPR-Annual-report-2023.pdf

Please be aware that there are strict word limits in place to make the formatting, editing, and design process of the final report as practical as possible. Submissions must be made using the link below and submissions may be returned for editing if the prescribed word limits are exceeded.

Please also be aware that we are expanding our use of interpretive graphics from Jenny Capon. Please see pages 45 and 46 of the 2022/23 annual report or on the Scottish International Policing Conference 2023 webpage for examples. Although we will be mostly using generic images to aid in the illustration of the different sections of the report. However, if you would like to explore any opportunities to develop graphics such as these based up your work or your submission for the annual report, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Please get in touch with Monica (m.craig2@napier.ac.uk) if you have any questions!

Many thanks and kind regards,

The SIPR Team
